Terms and conditions
Thanks for choosing Belle & Bark. Before we get started, here are a few things to know about how we work together to keep training safe, effective, and positive for everyone, dogs and humans alike.
Working together
When you book a service with Belle & Bark, you’re agreeing to show up, be respectful, and follow through on the work we do together. Training is a team effort. We’ll support you every step of the way, but long-term success depends on consistency and follow-through at home.
Client rights
As a Belle & Bark client, you have the right to:
- Be treated with kindness and respect, always
- Ask questions, express concerns, and participate actively in your dog’s training
- Receive humane, evidence-based guidance for you and your dog
- End your training relationship with us at any time (please note our cancellation policy below)
We’re here to support you, not judge you.
Payment and booking
Payment is due at the time of booking to reserve your spot. We accept e-transfer and cash (instructions provided by email or in-person).
Packages and services expire 6 months from the date of purchase. We recommend scheduling your sessions as soon as possible to make the most of your package and keep momentum in your training.
Cancellations and rescheduling
We understand that life can be unpredictable. Here’s how cancellations work:
- Private Training & Day Training: Please give at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged the full session fee.
- Group Classes: Group classes are non-refundable once the program starts. If you miss a class, we’ll do our best to offer homework or a make-up option, though availability is not guaranteed.
If we ever need to cancel due to weather or other unforeseen events, we’ll reschedule your session at no extra cost.
Training tools and methods
Belle & Bark is a force-free, reward-based training service. We do not use or permit the use of:
- Prong collars
- Shock (e-collars)
- Choke chains
- Slip leads used for correction
- Any tool or technique that causes fear, pain, or intimidation
We do support and encourage the use of:
- Harnesses
- Flat collars
- Long lines
- Treats, toys, and praise as motivation
- Marker training and clicker use
If you have questions about tools or methods, we’re happy to explain our approach and suggest alternatives that align with humane, evidence-based practices.
Safety first
All dogs must be up to date on vaccinations (or have valid titers) and free from contagious illness. If your dog isn’t feeling well, let us know and we’ll reschedule.
If your dog shows signs of aggression or high reactivity, we’ll assess the situation and may refer you to a specialist if needed. Your safety and your dog’s wellbeing always come first.
Results and responsibility
Training is a journey, not a quick fix. We’ll give you everything you need to succeed, but consistency outside of sessions is key. Because every dog is different, we cannot guarantee specific results.
Belle & Bark is not liable for any behaviour issues that occur outside of our scheduled sessions. As the owner, you’re responsible for your dog at all times.
Media release
We love sharing wins! By working with us, you agree to allow photos or videos of your dog to be used for social media, our website, or educational purposes. If you’d rather opt out, just let us know and we’ll gladly respect your preference.
Respecting everyone’s time
Please be on time for your session. If you’re running late, we’ll do our best to give you the full time, but we may need to wrap up at the originally scheduled end time to stay on track for others.
Privacy and confidentiality
Any personal information you share with Belle & Bark stays private. We only use your details for communication and care related to your services with us.
Legal stuff
Belle & Bark operates in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and all services are subject to the laws of this province. By booking a service, you agree to these terms.
Updates to these terms
We may make changes to these terms and conditions from time to time to reflect updates in our services, policies, or best practices. Any changes take effect immediately once posted on our website. By continuing to use our services, you agree to the most current version of our terms.
We’ll always aim to keep things clear and fair, but it’s your responsibility to check back now and then if you’re an ongoing client. If anything ever seems unclear, just ask. We’re happy to walk you through it.
